Good-quality waxed thread (wax thread, twine) has a smooth, slightly tacky surface — a property achieved by passing wax over the twine from all sides many times. Waxing makes the twine stronger, holds a knot better, keeps its position, stays straight and looks attractive. Ideal for macramé jewellery, for tying sofa buttons and also for making leather goods and many other applications. Cuts and burns evenly without fraying, creating very easily tidy finishes.
